Culinary Classes

Culinary by Hobby Hill is a hands-on cooking school in Powhatan, Virginia, serving the greater Richmond area. Classes are practical and step-by-step, built for real home cooks — not perfectionists. Every student cooks every dish, start to finish, at our studio: 2652 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139.

With 100+ class experiences, our lineup spans sourdough (including a full gluten-free curriculum), cheesemaking, handmade pasta, artisan bread, canning and preserving, international cuisines, and couples classes. New dates are added each month, so check back often to find one that fits your schedule.

Interested in a Private or Customized Class?

We offer a flat rate or per-person rate for private classes, large or small. We supply the consumables and you take home what you made, along with a snack of breads, crackers, and cheese, plus iced tea and coffee. To book a private class, reach out through our Contact page.

Please Note:

Bring an apron. For cheesemaking classes, bring a container to take your cheese home. For canning classes, skip open-toed shoes and bring an apron, extra jars, and a box for your warm, processed jars.
