There's a reason Southern tables look the same every January 1st. Black eyed peas for coins, greens for folding money, cornbread for gold. It's a simple meal with a lot of meaning behind it, and it's easier to make than you'd think.

In this hands-on class, you'll cook the whole lucky spread at your own station, start to finish:

  • Render thick-cut bacon and build a slow-simmered pot of black eyed peas with thyme, garlic, and a little cayenne
  • Whisk up a honey-and-brown-sugar cornbread that stays tender, not crumbly
  • Make a simple butter roux and turn half a head of cabbage into creamy, comforting creamed cabbage
  • Learn the one step in each recipe that actually matters, so it comes out the same way at home

You'll sit down to dinner with what you cooked, pack up whatever's left to take home, and leave with the recipe cards so you can make the whole plate again on New Year's Day.

It's a relaxed way to close out the year, whether you come solo, with a friend, or with the person who always hosts New Year's Day. Every student cooks every dish. Come hungry.

⚠️ Allergen note: This class contains gluten, dairy, eggs, and pork. The black eyed peas are made with chicken broth.
