Great time. Delicious cinnamon buns!
We got to make our own batch of cinnamon buns, and taste some pre-made with different flours for comparison. Quite a sugar buzz. It was busy and took the full 2 hours - glad the class was only 6 people; with more it would have been nuts. Fun class with goodies to take home.
Thank you Patience. We are so glad that you enjoyed your class with us at Hobby Hill Farm. Gluten Free can be challenging which is why we go above and beyond with multiple flour options. Anyone who has chosen a GF path knows that there are challenges which can add to the time allotted in a class. We love smaller classes on the GF classes for just these reasons. ~sharon
Gluten Free - Cinnamon Buns
Thank you Nancy. I am so glad we had a chance to catch up on why you provided a 2 star review. Please know anytime you are in our class that there are additional options. Cinnamon Buns are typically served with Cream Cheese Icings but if I had known you preferred Vanilla Buttercream then I would have been happy to assist with making that change. As for texture -this is based on the temperature and agitation of the yeast and the amount of time for proofing. Our recipe is tried and true with each of the 3 brands we had as options. We are available if you need additional assistance. ~sharon
I’ve lost count of how many cooking and baking classes I’ve taken with Sharon. It all started with my search for a cupcake decorating class because, let’s be honest, that’s never been my strong suit. A quick Google search led me to Hobby Hill and, instead of cupcakes, I thought, macarons? Why not?
Before Sharon’s class, I had only one successful macaron attempt (probably beginner’s luck). Every other try ended in cracked, misshapen, edible abominations. But in that first class, she taught us the techniques to make them perfect. From that moment on, I was hooked.
Then came the bread classes…Greek food…Indian cuisine…Croissants… and now, after 25+ classes, I think I basically live here. Sharon’s knowledge, patience, and passion for teaching make every class an incredible experience. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned home cook, you’ll walk away with skills you can actually use—and the confidence to tackle recipes that once seemed impossible. If you’re even thinking about taking a class at Hobby Hill, do it. You won’t regret it! You'll probably see me there.....haha
I’ve already signed up for another class! Took the sourdough course and learned a lot. I’ve been baking beautiful boules ever since. Sharon, our instructor has two qualities in a teacher that are so beneficial to adult students; she knows her stuff and she’s real patient. All skill levels felt welcome. The place is very well appointed- they thought of everything and the pre and post class communication is on point. It’s a bit of drive for me but I look forward to attending more classes at hobby hill.
Thank you for the review! Yes, I wish we were everywhere but that just isn' t feasible. Your breads look fabulous and I bet they are every bit as delicious! Looking forward to seeing you at your next class! ~Sharon
Sharon was great! I’m new to sourdough baking and there is a learning curve, but she made the class fun and enjoyable.
Thank you Amy - so glad you enjoyed the class. We are happy to help you in any way! ~sharon
This was a gift for my mom, it was a great bonding time. We had so much fun learning about techniques and different ways to make the buns. Sharon was a fantastic teacher and so much fun to be around. We are already planning to take another class. It is so much fun and so worth the money!
