Cranberry Orange Sauerkraut
The winter holidays are over and you may have some cranberries lurking around in your refrigerator so why not make a batch of colorful sauerkraut. Add some cranberries and some orange to to your next batch and watch the color come alive.
We work closely with growers to make sure the berries we bring are either certified organic or a low spray so we have the hardiest, disease free berries that will last right through February.
What do we do with all those berries you may ask? Initially, we use them to make jams, sauces and syrups.
Now we are adding them to Sauerkraut, honey and our favorite cinnamon bun recipe. These large size berries are a little tart but are great in any of our baked goods with a little bit of citrus and some caster sugar.
Berries from our grower in Maine are available on our local co-op Local Roots and Fall Line Farms as well as our retail store in Powhatan, VA.
